How siRNA Treatments for Hemophilia Work
Comments (0)
A new type of treatment for people with bleeding disorders is called siRNA therapy. In this 3D video, we show how siRNA treatment works within the clotting cascade. siRNA is part of a newer approach to treatment that works by “silencing” specific genes involved in the body’s clotting process. During the process of stopping a bleed there are proteins that keep us from clotting too much by putting the brakes on clotting. This may make it harder for people with bleeding disorders to stop bleeding. siRNA can block one of these proteins called antithrombin so that the clotting cascade can continue, and bleeding can stop.
