Dismissed: A Documentary About Women With Hemophilia

For decades women in the bleeding disorders community have had their voices dismissed. Many of you have shared deeply personal stories about having your concerns overlooked or not taken seriously by healthcare providers. These are stories of delayed diagnoses, limited or lacking treatment and care options, and a gap in understanding about how bleeding disorders uniquely impact women. These stories are powerful, and they deserve to be heard.
At BDC last week, Believe Limited premiered Dismissed, a moving documentary that highlights these issues. Told through the lived experiences of women with hemophilia, the film shows how limited access to diagnosis, treatment, and care can profoundly affect women’s lives. You can watch this important film here: www.dismissedfilm.com.
But watching the film is just the beginning. Change happens when awareness turns into action. Beyond viewing the film, there are suggested next steps forward such as hosting a screening of the film or even signing up for a clinical trial. Dismissed calls on all of us to stand alongside the women in the bleeding disorders community and push for the recognition and care they deserve.
